STARTING POSITION

Two Ten owners spent a ton of their time collecting and combing through retail traffic data manually. They scraped and entered over 4,600 data points per week to build four weekly reports and a month end report. Two Ten recorded, cleaned, manipulated, and visualized the data in an Excel spreadsheet. They would then copy and paste the visualizations into a PowerPoint document as a final product for clients. The process was time consuming and introduced risk of manual error.

PROCESS AND IMPACT

CDA built a custom automated process leveraging Amazon’s S3 Bucket, Python, Amazon Athena, and Tableau. The data process allows the client to:

  • Easily save over $50,000 per year through automation yielding an ROI of $8:1. Two Ten saves over $50,000 a year from the automated process. The process takes a matter of minutes from the time the data vendor drops the files in Amazon’s S3 Bucket, Python cleans the data, Athena feeds the data to Tableau and Tableau creates the final report. The client can quickly change filters to compare multiple time periods. A process that used to take over 40 hours a month, now only takes minutes.
  • Reduce manual error. The
    automated process reduces human touchpoints because the client will no longer manually record, clean, and manipulate the data. The result is a credible stream of data that reduces the risk of reporting error.
  • Support their brand. CDA built a custom report that gave the report a face lift. Two Ten now enjoys a report that supports their brand and that allows customers to consume insights quickly.

Overall great experience… This project will save us at least 10 hours per week once operational and tens of thousands of dollars per year.
